“I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Good Humor. I received a promotional item to thank me for my participation.”
There’s no denying that we are in the middle of summer. We’ve been on a few trips, tackled amusement parks and had lots of outdoor fun. But no matter how much fun we have or how many things we do, recently I’ve been hearing the same question asked over and over again, “Mom, where’s the ice cream truck?”.
It all started when the ice cream truck visited our neighborhood last summer. Rain Drop was four then and beyond thrilled that the ice cream truck drove down our street. We ran outside when we heard the special familiar tune. She got to pay for her frozen sweet treat and vowed that next summer she would do the same.
The problem? We’re now in the middle of August and the ice cream truck never came. Now the thing is, we’ve visited the local ice cream parlor several times, so there’s no lack of ice cream mustaches or brain freezes in my household. But there’s something about an ice cream truck that brings immense joy and satisfaction.
As a matter of fact, I still hold fond memories of the ice cream truck driving through my neighborhood when I was a little girl so, I empathize with her disappointment. My heart literally melted when I heard the question asked time and time again.
So obviously, when Good Humor invited us to help spread delight by giving out sweet frozen treats to DC residents as part of the Welcome to Joyhood campaign, there really wasn’t a lot to think about.
After bringing smiles to residents in New York City and Philadelphia, the Joy Squad is now in Washington DC until August 22nd, and turning everyday mundane moments into happy ones with free frozen treats along the way.
Once we got there, I wanted to take a few photos. The kids of course were focused on eating ice cream.
And if you’re going to tag along with Good Humor for such a special occasion, you might as well meet the Good Humor ice cream guy right?
In true DC style, we hopped onto our Good Humor ride with the Washington National mascots.
What’s it like to ride on a Good Humor double deck bus through Washington DC with the Washington National mascots? Well, first of all you get to eat as much ice cream and frozen goodies as you want.
Secondly, you can get up and personal and take as many photos as you want.
Oh the joys, honks and smiles as we drove through the city was a site to behold. The best part was seeing DC residents and tourists alike jump at the chance to get there free Good Humor treats.
They were getting social and snapping photos along the way. I think it’s now fair to say we’ve crossed seeing the ice cream truck off our summer bucket list. But, I also have a sneaking suspicion that we’re not the only ones.
If you want to follow the joy, be sure to keep up with Good Humor on Twitter. They’ll be indulging residents of Washington DC until August 22nd.
Who knows? Maybe, you’ll even meet the Good Humor guy.
My problem now, how are we ever going to top this trip to see the ice cream truck?
